Surfrider Foundation to Mark 10th Anniversary

The Ventura chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, an environmental organization focused on the surf zone, will celebrate its 10th anniversary Saturday.
The group will start the day with a cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon at Surfers Knoll near the mouth of the Santa Clara River. For information, call Dave Fishman at (805) 648-4470.
An evening anniversary party will include live music by Banned from the Beach and Phantom Riders, a screening of the 1978 movie “Free Ride” and an appearance by surfing champion Shaun Tomson.
It will be held at the Ventura Theatre, 26 S. Chestnut St., Ventura. Doors open at 7 p.m., and admission is $10 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds will go to Surfrider.
