Suspected Rebels Kill 3 Soldiers in Ambush
Suspected Muslim rebels ambushed an army patrol in the southern Philippines, killing three soldiers and wounding six, the military said.
Maj. Julieto Ando said that about 20 suspected members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front staged the attack in Maguindanao province, 560 miles southeast of Manila.
Soldiers and rebel fighters said Monday that they had halted days of sporadic fighting in the area to allow peace talks to continue.
