County to Pay for Boy’s Injuries

Sacramento County will pay a teenager $47,000 to settle a lawsuit over two broken wrists inflicted on him by a county probation officer.
The county will pay $11,482 to Michael Mendez’s attorney and $1,068 for incidentals and medical expenses, and will deposit $34,448 into a trust account for Mendez until he turns 18, on July 12.
The officer was reprimanded but is still on the job.
