82 Million Tune In to Bush Speech

An estimated 82 million people watched President Bush’s address to Congress on Thursday night, according to preliminary viewing estimates from Nielsen Media Research. The television audience for Bush’s speech was twice as large as the viewership for his State of the Union address in February. The total ratings figure is the combined audience for nine broadcast and cable networks.
