“Hardball,” starring Keanu Reeves, topped the weekend box office chart for the second straight weekend with $8.1 million as no new films broke into the top 10.

With studios scrambling to shift films after the events of Sept. 11, the only new movie in wide release was the long-delayed Mariah Carey vehicle “Glitter,” which landed with a thud in 11th place with $2.4 million on 1,202 screens.

The soft week allowed the Nicole Kidman ghost story “The Others,” in its seventh week, to climb to the second spot with $5.1 million, for a cumulative take of more than $80 million.
