Hahn Asks for More Time on Airport Plan
Mayor James K. Hahn on Monday asked the city agency that operates Los Angeles International Airport to extend for 45 days the public comment period for a $12-billion expansion and renovation.
It was the second time the mayor has asked the airport agency to prolong discussions of the controversial plan. Six hearings were canceled as a result of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Hahn made his request for more talks to Lydia Kennard, the executive director of the agency that runs the airport. The meetings must be jointly scheduled with the Federal Aviation Administration.
The current public comment period ended Monday.
