We Can End Air Hijackings

If all citizens of all countries were required to present passports when checking in for both domestic and international flights, “watch lists” would inherently be part of this system and known terrorists could be ferreted out. I love my country with all the liberties and freedoms it offers, but I will happily subject myself to the extra time and inconvenience of passport screening--greatly different from racial profiling--if that would help keep such atrocities from happening again.

From now on--unless there are enough hijackers who can overpower and restrain all passengers and crew immediately and simultaneously--Sept. 11 was the last day of air hijackings. You can be sure that I am not alone in the conviction that hijackers will not be commandeering my flights in the future. This is not a reckless attitude. The genie is out of the bottle regarding fuel-laden, guided-missile airliners. No cause will succeed in using hijackings as a means to an end.

It would seem to me that it is technologically feasible to have the capability to remotely maneuver a hijacked commercial aircraft to an elevation which would not pose a threat to a direct collision with any structure.

We are already able to remotely maneuver spacecraft and satellites from Earth.
