After more than 30 years of service, the Las Virgenes Library in Agoura Hills will close Oct. 6, in preparation for the opening three weeks later of the new Agoura Hills Library.

The new 17,000-square-foot library, part of the city’s new civic center complex at 29901 Ladyface Court, replaces the old 7,500-square-foot building about half of a mile away.

In the interim, customers may return materials to book drops at the old facility at 29130 W. Roadside Drive, officials said.

An opening ceremony will be held Oct. 27 at the new location.

“We’re looking so forward to having a new library that we’re going to spend all our energy on the opening of the new library, instead of the closing of the old one,” said Raya Sagi, community library manager.
