Supervisors OK Early El Toro Project Plan
The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved preliminary plans to set boundaries for the El Toro Redevelopment Project Area, a step toward establishing a special tax zone around the county’s planned commercial airport at the former Marine Corps air station.
A public hearing on the plan will be held this year. Airport opponents say the redevelopment zone represents a broken promise by airport supporters that tax money would not be used for the controversial project, and that the plan was rushed through before it could be analyzed.
