“Matta in America: Paintings and Drawings of the 1940s” examines the first 10 years of Chilean-born Roberto Sebastian Matta’s career. The show of 10 paintings and 22 drawings, opening Sunday at the Museum of Contemporary Art, charts the influential artist’s evolution from Surrealism to abstraction.* “Matta in America,” Museum of Contemporary Art, 250 S. The New York indie-pop outfit Ivy has been tapped to score the new Farrelly brothers movie, “Shallow Hal,” forcing the trio to reschedule some of its tour dates. But Ivy’s night at the Troubadour is still a go.

It’s hard to think of a better way to draw L.A. rock fans to a benefit for the American Red Cross than to offer a reunion of the original Concrete Blonde lineup, playing together for the first time in seven years. Johnette Napolitano, Jim Mankey and Harry Rushakoff will be joined on the marathon at Spaceland by such acts as the BellRays (acoustic), Wiskey Biscuit, Slydell and Bob Forrest.
