Pro-Promenade: Friday is a great night to go to the movies because there’s always something new that we (she and husband Norman Nixon) haven’t seen. I like to go to the Third Street Promenade and see movies and walk around by the artists and performers, watch the kids sing and dance. And there’s a Johnny Rockets there, and that’s a good place to cheat and eat everything you want.

A-One-and-a-Two: Saturday I really love being at my dance school (the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Culver City). I love watching the classes, for the little ones especially. There’s nothing more adorable then seeing 4-year-olds take African, ballet and tap dance classes. I love to be there and teach.

Eating Well: Saturday night, I really like getting together with friends and going to a nice restaurant. Often we try something we haven’t done. There’s a little restaurant on Venice Beach, in a little corner where they serve about 30 people at once. We like to find places like that. We’ll also go to i Cugini in Santa Monica, or Mr. Chow’s or Crustacean, or we might get into our jeans and go to Versailles for Cuban food.

Ocean Walk: Sunday is a really great day, after church, to go to the beach. It’s great to sit up there with the L.A. Times and the New York Times or whatever good book you’re reading. I like the beach in Malibu, which is good for collecting shells or flying a kite. The kids-Vivian Nichole, 17, and Norman Jr., 14-come and we’ll walk along the beach. Or their friends will all go with us and we’ll have a car full of lively kids. Feeding Body and Soul: Another restaurant we love to go to on Sunday is Aunt Kizzy’s in Marina del Rey. They have the best biscuits. They just melt in your mouth. Then we’ll go to the bookstores and browse through the aisles and see what’s up there. I love history and I’m always reading biographies, and books about philosophy and ideas, or books about film.
