Defective Product Bill

Share

I am outraged over the failure of democracy in our state capital. On the final days of the legislative session, a decision was made by Assembly Speaker Bob Hertzberg (D-Sherman Oaks) not to allow vital consumer protection legislation to be voted on. The bill, SB 11, would have protected consumers from defective products or environmental hazards that cause injury or death (Sept. 24). Because the speaker and corporate Democrats refused to take this measure up, they failed us as legislative leaders. When will legislators act in the people’s interest and not just on behalf of corporate wrongdoers’ interests?
