Woman’s Suicide Note Urges That Jail Be Sued

A murder suspect who hanged herself in a Florida jail left a suicide note asking her lawyer to sue the jail for failing to prevent her from killing herself, authorities said Wednesday.
Laren Sims, who was being held in a Hernando County jail awaiting extradition to California, suggested that any money from the lawsuit could be used to support her two children.
Sims, 36, was found in her cell Saturday and died a day later. She was charged in San Joaquin County, Calif., with killing her husband, Sacramento lawyer Larry McNabney, and burying him in a vineyard.
In her suicide note, Sims said she was not checked regularly in her cell.
Steven Owen, spokesman for Corrections Corp. of America, the company that operates the jail, said an internal investigation by the company found Sims was properly supervised.
