Panel Led by Correa Will Discuss El Toro’s Future
Assemblyman Lou Correa will lead a legislative panel on the future use of the former El Toro Marine base.
“We need to engage the residents and interested parties in a frank discussion,” said Correa ( D-Anaheim).
On March 5, voters killed the county’s plan for an international airport at El Toro in favor of zoning for a park and limited development.
The next day the Navy announced its intent to sell all or part of the base at auction.
A final decision on how the Navy will dispose of the base is to be announced April 23.
Correa said he will hold hearings as soon as possible.
