From Times Wire Reports

A long-forgotten Victorian masterpiece discovered by a 10-year-old Connecticut boy in his school library is expected to fetch more than $1 million at a June 12 auction in London, Christie’s said.

Bingham Bryant had long admired the dusty old painting portraying one of his favorite Greek myths that sat above the bookcase behind the librarian’s desk.

After some painstaking research by his father, Christopher Bryant, and a much-needed cleaning, the painting--which had sat in Old Lyme School for nearly 70 years--was revealed to be Walter Crane’s “The Fate of Persephone.”
