Dutch Army Chief Quits Over Bosnia Massacre

The Dutch army’s top general resigned, a day after the ruling coalition quit over the failure of Dutch peacekeepers to prevent a 1995 massacre in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Lt. Gen. Ad van Baal took responsibility for mistakes made by the military. Lawmakers, meanwhile, called for a parliamentary inquiry into the fall of the U.N.-declared “safe area” at Srebrenica, where Serbs killed more than 7,000 Muslim men and boys.
In Bosnia, victims’ relatives demanded compensation from the Dutch government.
