Tenent in Talks to Buy USC’s Cancer Hospital

Share

Tenet Healthcare Corp. is in talks with USC over the possible purchase of the university’s Kenneth J. Norris Jr. Cancer Hospital. Tenet, based in Santa Barbara, has managed the 60-bed hospital since 1997. Representatives from both sides said negotiations were going well but that they involved complex issues.

The hospital shares some facilities with the USC/Norris Cancer Center, a research institution that would not be part of any transaction. USC, which has a long relationship with Tenet, initiated the discussions.

Tenet owns the 285-bed USC Medical Center, opened in 1991.
