Striking bus drivers on Sunday rejected the latest contract offer from Laidlaw Education Services, extending a strike that is affecting 18,000 students in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

About 90% of the 400 drivers who attended the meeting at Hamilton High voted against the offer, said Don Owens, of Teamsters Union Local 572, which represents about 800 striking drivers.

Owens said drivers would return to the picket lines.

“We’re very disappointed, once again, with Teamsters leadership,” said Laidlaw exec Jim Ferraro.
