From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A federal appeals court Monday upheld the conviction and 63-month prison term handed down last year to a public housing executive convicted of bribery and making false statements in connection with a money scam.

After a yearlong FBI probe, San Francisco Housing Authority executive Patricia Williams was among the last to be prosecuted in a scam that ensnared two city officials and 20 others seeking to falsely obtain subsidized housing.

Prosecutors accused Williams of receiving more than $34,000 in bribes from renters, none of whom would have qualified for subsidized housing.
