Beleagured Elections Director Is Fired

City officials dismissed Elections Director Tammy Haygood, forcing the beleagured department to find its sixth chief in seven years.
The Elections Commission voted 4-3 to fire Haygood after more than two hours of closed deliberations.
Haygood, 42, came under criticism for overspending the budget by $5.6 million. In addition, recent elections have been marred by questions about ballot security.
