Birth Control Is Key to Curb Overpopulation

In response to Bob Hoffman’s letter [“Farming Fish Avoids Root Problem,” April 21] about overpopulation: Amen!

This world would be much closer to the utopia we can only dream about if we were to decrease and maintain Earth’s population at, say, 2 billion to 3 billion people.

It could most likely be accomplished by serious adherence to birth control (zero to one child per couple) worldwide over a number of generations.

We could then all feel far more comfortable about our children’s future and the future of the many less numerous, less crowded and, presumably, happier generations to follow.
