It’s sad, as an independent filmmaker, to think that the public will believe the marketing campaign that Steven Soderbergh’s “Full Frontal” is a return to renegade filmmaking with a budget of “only $2 million” (“Are You Serious About No Catering Truck?” by Kevin Maynard, July 30).

Two million dollars with no makeup artist?

Geez, on “Hot Wax Zombies on Wheels,” I paid my makeup artist a daily salary, shot 90 pages in 12 days with 39,000 feet of 35-millimeter film and finished with two Dolby answer prints and a DigiBeta master--all for under $160,000. (Friends of mine have done even better.) If I had had $2 million, it would have been an epic.
