From Times Wire Reports

Lawyers in New York said some Holocaust survivors soon will receive the first checks from a historic $40-million settlement reached with two Austrian banks that Nazis seized in 1938. The case marks one of the first payouts to Holocaust victims whose funds were stolen more than 60 years ago.

After spending two years culling the applications of 60,000 Holocaust survivors and relatives, attorneys have proved that more than 1,000 survivors and their relatives held funds in Bank Austria and Creditanstalt that Nazis seized.
