Tax Board Offers Help for Claiming Rebates
The California Franchise Tax Board is providing free help in completing claim forms for the state’s Homeowner & Renter Assistance program at locations in Thousand Oaks and Oxnard.
Under the program, low-income homeowners or renters who were 62 or older, blind or disabled as of Dec. 31, 2001, can receive a rebate of as much as $472.60 for homeowners or up to $347.50 for renters.
In Thousand Oaks, assistance is available at the Goebel Senior Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays through Oct. 24. Walk-in service will be available through August, but then by appointment only. Call 381-2742.
In Oxnard, walk-in service is available at the Wilson Senior Center, 350 North C St., from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays through Oct. 16. Call 487-1801.
