Enforce Immigration Laws Already in Place

Share

What a wonderful idea Byron Slater of the Border Solution Task Force has (letter, Aug. 9). Let’s have the Army protect the United States from invasion by people entering the country illegally. I have no problem with any foreign person entering our country legally and abiding by the rules, such as reporting changes in location, school, employment. I do not understand, however, why Congress does not enforce our illegal-entry laws. Isn’t that why the Army was organized in the first place, hundreds of years ago, to protect our homeland?

Let’s stop writing new laws that always seem to have loopholes in them and just start enforcing the laws that have been on the books for these many years. Put the Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard to work protecting our borders and I think we would all be pleasantly surprised.
