A woman who has gone from aircraft cleaning to passenger screening is among the first wave of federal security officers deployed Tuesday at Newark International Airport.

Danise Daville was one of 150 federal screeners deployed at the airport. The new Transportation Security Administration still needs 850 more there by Nov. 19, the deadline for government security to replace all private checkers at the nation’s 429 commercial airports under a law passed after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York City and the Pentagon.

Daville, who had worked for Northwest Airlines, said she is pleased with her training and increased salary. “It’s a great job,” she said.
