From Times Wire Reports

Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered authorities to release a Christian sentenced to death in 1998 on a blasphemy conviction, the state-run news agency said.

The court agreed with the defense that Ayub Masih had never made the allegedly blasphemous statements but instead was a victim of a neighbor’s plot to steal his land in Punjab province, Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

Masih had been accused of expressing support for “The Satanic Verses” author Salman Rushdie.
