From Times Staff Reports

With approval given by Gov. Gray Davis, construction of a state home for military veterans in Saticoy could begin within two years, state officials said.

The home will have about 110 beds--60 for permanent residents and the rest for elderly veterans who need care during the day. Last week the governor signed bills authorizing construction of veterans homes in West Los Angeles, Lancaster and Saticoy. The next hurdle is approval by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
