RIAA Drops Suit Targeting Piracy Site

Share

The music industry dropped its suit seeking to compel four Internet backbone providers to block access to a Web site that offered pirated albums.

The Recording Industry Assn. of America filed the precedent-setting suit last week in U.S. District Court in Manhattan seeking a federal injunction directing Sprint Corp., AT&T; Broadband, UUNet Technologies Inc., and Cable & Wireless to redirect Internet traffic to and from China-based Listen4Ever.com.

The site since has gone down, though not through any action by the backbone providers.
