KTTV-TV entertainment reporter Lisa Joyner has left the station to devote more time to producing and developing a new reality-based series.

“The station made me a very generous offer, but I feel that it’s time to move on,” Joyner said Wednesday. “It was a tough decision. But I’m really motivated to do other things.”

Joyner, whose last official day was last Friday, has been at KTTV for more than five years. In addition to reporting show business news on KTTV’s 10 p.m. newscast, she hosted a regular segment, “Lisa’s L.A.” on which she spotlighted local trends and establishments.

She also filled in often on “Good Day L.A.,” the station’s morning news show.

“I really wanted to get into producing,” Joyner said. “I’m the only entertainment reporter in L.A. that produced her own reports. I love to get my hands dirty, and I love to write.”

She said the parting with KTTV was amicable: “I had a good relationship there. They had plans for me to do other things. But my immediate boss [news director Jose Rios] understood that I wanted to move on.”

Said Rios in a statement: “Lisa Joyner has decided to pursue interests outside the station. She did a good job in the years she was here. We wish her well.”

Station executives added that there are no immediate plans to replace her.

Joyner’s immediate plans include the development of a “personal project” that she would host and produce.

While declining to give specific details about the project, Joyner said it was “an idea involving some things I’ve gone through in my life.”

A network has already shown interest in the project, Joyner said: “We should know something in the next few days.”
