Government, Rebels to Talk Peace Sept. 16
From Times Wire Reports
The Sri Lankan government and Tamil Tiger rebels will hold peace talks Sept. 16 in Thailand, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry said.
The talks seek to halt the fighting that has killed more than 64,000 people in two decades of civil war. They follow a February cease-fire brokered by Norway.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam have been fighting for a separate state in northern and eastern Sri Lanka.
