Slain Children’s Mother Plans Memorial Projects
The mother of four children murdered by her ex-husband says she wants to memorialize them with a scholarship fund and a library at the new UC Merced.
Christine McFadden also wants to build a Ronald McDonald House and a pediatric wing and children’s playroom at a Merced hospital.
The projects would be funded by a nonprofit foundation she created with $20,000 that people sent her.
On March 26, retired Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputy John Hogan killed his three stepchildren--Stuart Willis, 14; Stanley Willis, 15; and Melanie Willis, 17--as well as his daughter, Michelle Hogan, 5, before killing himself. Police said Hogan was trying to get even after a bitter divorce.
