From Times Wire Reports

A man accused of providing false identity cards to two of the Sept. 11 hijackers pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in a New Jersey court, his lawyer said.

Mohamad El Atriss is suspected of selling IDs to Khalid Almihdhar, a hijacker on board the jet that hit the Pentagon, and Abdulaziz Alomari, who was on the aircraft that hit the north tower of the World Trade Center.

Officials are not sure whether El Atriss knew of the hijackers’ plans, but Passaic County acting prosecutor Marilyn Zdobinski said investigations were continuing.

No federal charges have been filed against El Atriss.

Judge Marilyn Clark of Passaic County Superior Court set bail at $250,000 cash at the preliminary hearing. A grand jury must now decide whether there is sufficient evidence to indict El Atriss.
