It’s Official: 83 Years of Marriage Is a Record

A Lexington couple who said “I do” 83 years ago have been officially recognized as the world’s oldest living married couple.
William Ritchie, 104, and Claudia Lillian Ritchie, 98, who wed April 12, 1919, in Jeffersonville, Ind., received a certificate Tuesday from Guinness World Records.
While Lillian Ritchie’s memory is faltering and her husband has difficulty hearing, both were made aware of the record, said daughter Jewell Wagoner, 75.
