‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ to Return to Geer Stage

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Shakespeare’s enchanted tale about mismatched lovers and a fairyland quarrel spiced with magic gone awry opens Monday at 6 p.m. at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum.

Something of a tradition at the outdoor canyon venue, this forest romp--with its fairy malice and mischief, hilarious bumbling rustics and the comic, runaway romantic woes of four young mortals--is very much at home in the theater’s natural setting in the Topanga woods.

Theatricum’s final repertory offering of the season, “Midsummer” shares the stage with the company’s other well-received productions: Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice,” Peter Hall’s musical version of George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” and Jean Giradoux’s fable “The Madwoman of Chaillot.”
