Man Pleads Guilty in Illegal Sale of Abalone

An Oakland man has pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in a scheme to sell abalone taken illegally along the Sonoma County coast.

Duong A. Luu faces up to three years in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 2. Two other men still face trial in the same case before Judge Elaine Watters. Kin Wah Gee and Kim Keung Gee, also of Oakland, have pleaded innocent.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Brooke Halsey Jr. said Luu was a ringleader of the group selling the prized shellfish on the black market for up to $85 each.
