She’d Rather Stay Away From the ‘Glossy’ Glitterati

For whom are you writing these Sunday magazine stories? Or, more importantly, who comes up with your story and issue ideas? As I read the Nov. 10 issue (“The Art of Entertaining,” Special Design Issue), I couldn’t help thinking that I, as a regular Times reader, have no place sticking my nose in your glossy (in both prose style and stock type) magazine pages.

I’ve concluded that the editors and writers must come from the ranks of [those] who read and relate to your magazine. Who else would find the parties of entitled, ennobled, enlightened 20-something designer couples interesting (“Life of the Party,” by Peter McQuaid)? They party in the hotel they helped design and are so socially gifted that they can flit from one brief conversation to another, all the while claiming how well they’re getting to know their new friends.
