Afghanistan’s central government brokered a truce between two rival warlords, ending three days of fighting that left more than 60 people dead, most of them civilians, officials said.

The clashes between ethnic Pushtun commander Amanullah Khan and the Tajik governor of Herat province, Ismail Khan, erupted Saturday in several villages in Zer-i-Koh district.

The truce came as a U.S. official said the son-in-law of Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar had been captured in Afghanistan’s southwest.
