Bruno Wintzell, 58, a Swedish opera singer and actor formerly linked romantically to actress Goldie Hawn, with whom he worked in “The Girl from Petrovka,” died of cancer Sunday in Stockholm.

A native of Bromma, Sweden, Wintzell began his show business career in 1963 by singing popular music in local amusement parks. He studied singing in London and Salzburg, Austria, and then began his opera career.

He also gained acclaim for his work in musical theater, including a Scandinavian production of “Hair.” But his staging of “Jesus Christ Superstar” in Stockholm was a financial failure, and prompted him to file for personal bankruptcy protection.
