Bombs Are Discovered at Two IKEA Stores
Police sealed off 10 IKEA stores in the Netherlands after bombs were found at two branches of the world’s biggest furniture retailer.
One bomb was found at the Sliedrecht store, near Rotterdam. It blew up at a police station where it had been taken to be defused; two police officers were hurt. A second bomb was found in an Amsterdam store.
Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said it appeared to be the work of a criminal organization.
“We don’t believe this is a terrorist-related action,” said Amsterdam police spokesman Remco Gerretsen.
