Businesses Close in Protest Against Aristide

Nearly 200 businesses, banks and schools closed in Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince, as part of a general strike to protest President Jean-Bertrand Aristide’s government.
Business groups and opposition politicians called the strike a day after Aristide supporters attacked anti-government protesters in several cities. “We must ... save our country from chaos,” said a statement by 12 business groups.
