Contempt for Rights

Share

Re “Prisoners May Face ‘Legal Black Hole,’ ” Dec. 1:

The contempt shown by the Bush administration for the fundamental human rights of the Guantanamo Bay internees is nothing short of astonishing.

Our government recognizes no right of review, no court of appeal, no avenue that the detainees may pursue, innocent though some might be of any terrorist activity.

Imagine if United States citizens were being held incommunicado by a foreign government ... no, on second thought, don’t go there. The Bush crowd hasn’t shown much regard for our rights, either.
