Sub Finds More Cracks in Sunken Oil Tanker
From Times Wire Reports
A submarine has found three more cracks in the stern section of the sunken oil tanker Prestige that could leak yet more fuel oil onto the ravaged Spanish coastline, Spanish officials said.
The crew of the French sub Nautile, hired to probe the wreckage 2.2 miles deep, had previously found six cracks and oil leaking from the separate bow and stern sections.
The discoveries raise the prospect of long-term leaks from the wreck besides the thousands of tons of oil that have already devastated Spain’s coast.
