17 Men Indicted on Gambling Ring Charges
An alleged Gambino crime family captain, his son and 15 other men were indicted on charges of running a gambling operation that took in $30 million worth of wagers a year.
The 36-count indictment charges Ronald Trucchio, 51, his son Alphonse Trucchio, 25, and their associates with running an operation that took bets of up to $15,000 on professional and college sports.
Ronald Trucchio runs the loan-sharking, gambling and drug sales operations for the Gambino crime family, said Det. Louis Wirth, who worked on the case.
