Protesters Ride Horses Into National Congress
From Times Wire Reports
More than 400 teachers, farmers and ranchers protesting NAFTA and low wages for educators stormed Mexico’s lower house of Congress, riding horses into the lobby and breaking down doors to occupy the chamber.
Protesters used iron bars to force open a fence that rings the legislative palace in Mexico City. They then hurled fire extinguishers at security guards as lawmakers dived under desks.
The protest broke up after an hour when lawmakers agreed to listen to their demands.
