Man Who Fatally Shot Pair Is Executed

Texas executed a man who shot to death a mother and her son in misdirected rage and later insisted on representing himself at trial.
James Collier, 55, became the 33rd person executed by lethal injection this year in Texas, which executes more people than any other state.
Collier’s execution was the last scheduled for the year in Texas, which has carried out 289 executions since resuming capital punishment in 1982.
