Scientists Map Genome of the Sea Squirt

Scientists have reported completion of a draft genome of the sea squirt, Ciona intestinalis.
The squirt, noted the authors in Science, is important to understand because it is probably similar to the kind of animal that gave rise to all vertebrates, including human beings.
