Let’s Make Judges Just as Liable as Police

Re “Court: Hold Cops Liable for Pursuits,” Dec. 15:

The suggestion by the appellate panel that police officers be liable for damages caused during car chases is an interesting one.

Let’s make it more interesting. What causes the greater loss to society: 1) police chases or 2) criminals released from prison because of lenient sentencing or judicial parole decisions?

It follows that if police are liable for the damage caused during their attempts to apprehend criminals, judges should be personally liable for the damage they do by releasing those criminals.
