Police Recover Stolen Rubens Paintings
Irish police have recovered five stolen paintings, including two by Flemish master Peter Paul Rubens, from the attic of a Dublin public housing project. Three people were arrested.
Detectives found the art Friday, nearly three months after it disappeared from Russborough House, the home of the late English art collector and philanthropist Sir Alfred Beit. It was the fourth time thieves had targeted the house south of Dublin, which is open to the public.
Police said the paintings -- found minus their frames -- were in excellent condition.
