Illness, Doctor’s Urgings Don’t Deter Smokers

Millions of Americans, many with chronic lung and other ailments, continue smoking despite their doctors’ warnings.
An estimated 38% of people with emphysema still smoke, as do almost 25% of those with asthma, the Washington-based Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality reported.
And they continued even though at least 60% of them said a doctor had told them to stop within the last year.
